It's been a while, my friends. My winter break has had its ups and downs, that's for sure.
Notable events include: taking Rowdy to the beach, Christmas at my grandma's, spending time with the family, sleeping late, eating at Cheese Bunny, catching up on my reading and movie list, and visiting Castaways.
I suppose 'tis the season for changes and resolutions. I have made my own.
It is no secret that I'm a tad on the chubby side. I've decided to remedy that. I know everyone makes those weight loss resolutions and such, but I seriously think I can accomplish it. I set myself to it in high school, and actually lost some weight, but without careful attention I easily gained it all back (and then some). Contrary to what a lot of people believe, you can eat unheathily and be a vegetarian. Pastas, potatoes and potato chips, cookies...all vegetarian and all equally damaging if not eaten in moderation.
With that said, my current long time goal is to lose weight. I vow to eat healthier and engage in some sort of athletic activity three to five times a week. I don't have a specific number in mind, but I think I will realize it when I get there.

We will return to our regularly scheduled program in just a moment...
The last week of class, woo!
I apologize for the lack in serious blogging - my days have been filled with fairy tales.
I have had three important assignments due in my Hans Christian Andersen class in the last two weeks: a group written fairy tale, a group performed fairy tale, and a literary analysis of 2-3 of HCA's tales. Ordinarily I would jump at the chance to write an intellectual evaluation of "The Little Mermaid," but I'm finding it a little difficult to care at the moment.
After this week I will be able to fill your brain with invaluable descriptions of my Castaway's purchases (complete with pictures!) and the state of my holiday shopping - you know, highly beneficial information.

So. Like. I make things, and I, like, sell them.
At the bottom of this page you'll find a wee widget with some pictures. These are things I am selling in my ALL BRAND NEW Etsy shop.
For the uninitiated, Etsy is a place where you can list handmade crafts, jewelry and other dingalings. Right now, I only have my photographs up, but I'll eventually be adding scarves, hats, and maybe a handmade journal or two.
Check out my Etsy shop.

If I have to listen to Christmas music all day at work, then you guys can handle looking at Christmas-y colors for the few seconds you spend here. Sacrifice a little, man.

My Favorite Things
In the tradition of The Sound of Music and its subsequent soundtrack's incorporation into the Christmas music universe, I'd like to list a few of my favorite things when it comes to cold weather.
List compiled with the help of Traci C. Thompson
not sweating
sweaters
woolen socks
ginger bread
christmas trees
hot chocolate on the top of Mt. Bonnell
early morning fireplaces
warm apple cider
ear muffs
crisp cold air
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
time to read a good book
time for old friends
hoodies
seeing your breath
scarves
christmas lights
windows down, heater on your feet (in the car)
late nights at Spider House
baking
I'm done. Your turn to add some.

...Never ceases to give me a good laugh.
You know that game where you type "[Insert name here] looks like" into Google and see what happens. Here are a couple of my favorites:
April looks like Alton, the guy who operates the Tilt-A-Whirl down at the shitty amusement park behind the Walmart.
April looks like a ghetto slut.

It's true. They are.
I debated changing my blog colors to a more Thanksgiving or Christmas friendly scheme, but decided a) I don't want a brown blog, and b) it is too early to decorate for Christmas, despite what the department stores tell you.
I am pumped, though, for the return of pumpkin and gingerbread flavored things, soups in bread bowls, apple cider, scarves, and fireplaces. If you are not excited about these things, you better check yo' mind.
. : edit : .
I caved. My blog is officially Thanksgiving-friendly. I need to find some hand turkeys.

Oh What a Beautiful Morning...
Mike-o gets here today in exactly one hour. We'll see what sort of hijinks up with which we can come.
I tried to make that a proper English sentence. Deal with it.

beginning. again, again, again.
A long time ago, I had a blog on xanga. I'm not even sure people use that anymore. Anyhow. I was fairly faithful in writing in it often. I'm also pretty sure only Traci read it. That's okay, though, because it was mostly late-teenage, angst-ridden nonsense.
Then I tried doing my own with .mac. That was cool, too, only I thought I'd try to become famous with my blogging. I treated it as a chore more than an information outlet for friends and family. It quickly went downhill. Besides, I wanted to set up a portfolio with that webspace.
And now. Here I am. Again.
p.s. Cayce, Nicole - You guys started it. I couldn't help it.
